About Naylors Culligan

In 1966, A.D. Naylor and Company added Culligan Water Conditioning to the company line. Since then we have been installing and servicing the Deep Creek Lake Area, Garrett County, MD., Preston, Tucker and Grant Counties, WV. Water plays a large part in your daily life and touches every life on the planet. We must rely on water for just about everything. It may surprise you that one third of all waterways are polluted. The U.S. Government Accountability Office has reported that 20% of the nation's 65,000 community water systems can't meet minimum standards set forth by government legislation. You may not need to worry about contracting an illness from a glass of tap water you drink today, but over time, by drinking insufficiently filtered water, those small particles of chemicals, pesticides, and metals that are hidden in the water can add up and eventually take a toll on your body. More and more research is published each year linking sickness and disease to the country's drinking water.

Even if you're not completely convinced, why play the odds, especially if you have growing children or elderly family members. It's not worth the chance. A.D. It all started in a blacksmith shop in Northbrook, Illinois. Emmett Culligan perforated the bottom of a coffee can and bought some greensand to make his own water softener. He ran water through this can and used this 'softened' water to wash his baby's diapers. The water was 36 grains hard going into the can and 0 grains hard coming out. Emmett Culligan had discovered his own method to give 'soft water.' By 1938, the first franchised dealership was started in Wheaton, Illinois, followed by another dealership located in Hagerstown, Maryland. By the start of World War II, Culligan had 150 dealers.
